About the club

A serious club with one very serious rule.

A members' club for founders who have launched something real and made, to date, precisely $0.

  • Free, verified, temporary. Membership lasts precisely until somebody pays you.
  • Public inspection. Your product goes on display, where the public may examine it, critique it and, regrettably, buy it.
  • Expulsion is permanent. Make a sale and you are removed on the spot. Your record stays on file in perpetuity. The Club takes no pleasure in this.

The manifesto

Articles of membership.

  1. I

    Membership is open to any founder with a live, launched product that has made exactly $0. Not an idea. Not a waitlist. A thing people could pay for and haven't.

  2. II

    The $0 is verified, not declared. Members connect their payment processor read-only. The Club checks it on joining and keeps checking.

  3. III

    Members may be visited, discussed, and advised by the public at any time.

  4. IV

    Visitors are encouraged to support the members they believe most deserve a customer, and to tell them why they haven't paid.

  5. V

    The first genuine sale constitutes commercial activity and results in immediate expulsion. The Club is not angry. The Club is disappointed.

  6. VI

    Expelled members retain a permanent public record, which the Club will not remove under any circumstances.

  7. VII

    The person responsible for an expulsion may sign the record. The Club considers this an honour.

Founders

Launched, live and still at $0? You may be eligible. Apply, submit your payment processor for inspection (read-only), and the Club will put your product on public display.

Browsers

The directory is a register of products that are live, working and, as yet, entirely unpurchased. Browsing is free. Buying is permitted. The Club will handle the consequences.

Helpers

You don't have to buy anything. Telling a founder why you didn't is worth more than most of their analytics. Buying, of course, gets them expelled.

The Club does not handle money.

We never process a purchase. Buying happens on the founder's own site. We simply read the receipt, and then act accordingly.
